This course is intended for users with an experience in VBA and longing to strengthen their spreadsheet development skills so as to build performant, maintainable and user friendly Excel applications. More than a just a plain technical course on VBA, the course aims to provide a methodology of development (good practices) and put the spreadsheet user in a broader business environment.
After presenting the possibilities around the Excel development platform, the course will focus on what VBA is particularly well suited for: automation, prototyping, user interaction extensions, interoperability with other applications.
Object Oriented Programming will be covered through the core Excel Object Model, the extensions of native objects with custom objects creation (class modules) and event driven features. Interoperability with other applications will be presented through the use of external libraries to access database, parse external files and export structured data.
A real-world example will be presented through 2 full-immersions days with a backbone project consisting in developing a minimalist Portfolio Management System with standard features such as Booking, P&L monitoring, Reporting, etc.
